In particular, the qmail and Postfix mail transfer agents are recommended, even in situations where a corporate groupware server is used to store mail. Postfix and qmail both have excellent security histories and are often used to "protect" internal groupware servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and Novell Groupwise. Email systems can be configured to each site's specific needs. Virus scanning and spam protection can also be installed on servers to prevent unwanted content from arriving on user's desktops.
